 If you are tapping into the popular social media venues such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace how are you keeping them all updated in timely fashion? That was my first thought when I first discovered social media and its alternative options. After running around the block with it all a few times I ran across Tweet Deck. With Tweet Deck, not only can you update Twitter, Facebook & MySpace all with one click, you can do a whole lot more and be organized at that. It's all about being effective, leveraging your time & convenience. This is your tool to do just that.

Is your message balanced?

I will be the first to admit keeping your message balanced sometimes is difficult. Depending on what is happening that week or what time of year it is, you may find me talking to much about something that I am passionate about - sports. Sports for instance, can be an enjoyable topic but turns off others, but it is one of my passions. Food is another - and that is a topic everyone can relate to - the KEY! A balanced message is important because it keeps people with you and you gain more of a data base to grow your target audience. A good balanced topic agenda (assuming you update Twitter/Facebook more than once a day) for a day would be food, sports, politics, financial & giving back in some way with a tip, thought or motivation. I will say, the easiest way to get yourself out there consistently is to utilize your mobile sources to stay on top of the game! ~E

What Are You Talking About?

If you are tapping into the modern fad of social media may I ask what you are talking about? Who is your target audience? What is your goal by using social media platforms to get your message out? If it is a hobby or toy for you then let it rip - you can just talk about anything you wish who cares right? What surprises me is some people talk so much about the sickness in their household that it can make one depressed or how many times they messed in their pants that day. Others show pictures every day of their teens holding up their "2 fingered peace sign" - lip puckered up look with camera facing them. If your goal is to reach potential clients then let me advise you to keep good balance in your subject matters and media sharing. You should be giving something back of value from time to time and that will bring value and reason for one to have the desire to be connected to you and in turn building your target audience. What "REALLY" Grabs Your Attention?

In this fast moving world we live in, there is so much info that passes in front of our eyes that only certain things "REALLY" grab our attention. In regards to social media, for me personally, photos,creative ads are on the top of the list. In building a network of friends/followers, a splash of photos within your daily comments and updates can make all the difference. Even if you are in a long line as usual in a small town in rural Brazil like me yesterday where the wait to check our of one of the few local grocery stores was 30 minutes, take a photo - be creative - and in return bulstering your social network online! HAVE FUN! ~E

Social Media & Sports

Back in the 1980's when I visited the confines of Atlanta Fulton County Stadium (now parking lot to Turner Field) often, I always enjoyed slapping high fives with people I didn't even know on Horner homers Ramirez to Hubbard DP's etc...and hearing Skip Caray in the background give the play by play. Now with new technology and its forever growing popularity, you can enjoy the same with joining online thru Twitter or Facebook and slapping high fives virtually instead of waiting on that ballpark hot dog, you can have it in your mouth! Back on the Twitter horse again and this time some incredible news how Twitter has benefited me in last 30 minutes getting things accomplished. This time I got sound advice how to repair my Blackberry Pearl. The center ball (used as the mouse) would only move left to right but wouldn't go up and down. I posted a help alert on Twitter and within the hour I got a reply back CMHUFF@EricDye dirty. Remove back cover & battery & shake it a bit &/or take a Qtip w/ bit of rub alcohol & clean around ball and silver disk. I  immediately took her advice and WHOA.....it worked!  Twitter getting  it done...can you say Twit dis?

I Got Kicked Out of ....

The latest news from below the equator is....I got kicked out of class. Well, not really. But it sure felt like it. I got up this morning to update my twitter account status on my BlackBerry device with great info to my following and noticed I had been suspended by Twitter. My account is currently under investigation. I am totally stumped. What did I do, and how can this happen? Knowing that there is a limit to how many people per hour you can submit to follow and if you extend that maximum number (100 an hour) you get suspended - BUT I may have submitted 2 request all day! There is certainly an error in the detection system that reads the account activity. I did get an email from support and it read that I should expect this to be resolved in 7 - 10 days. I am not happy about this and you should beware that your Twitter account could be subject to suspension at a whim, fog blowing in, or wind at headquarters in northern California. Stay tuned! :| ~E

Technology - Allows for a Virtual Super Bowl Party

Last night was an incredible Super Bowl game and finish. One to remember for a lot of reasons. I had posted earlier in the day my 1st of many online shows on YouTube predicting the final score on my debut. I almost pulled it off!

With social media networks, I was able to have a virtual SUPER Bowl party...and had to be by far the best time I have ever had watching a Super Bowl in a long time. As I was watching the game, with Twitter and Facebook, I was talking to people from all over the world from Slovakia, to Canada, USA to Peru while being in Brazil in live time commenting on the game, half time show and even the ads. It was really like having everyone over for the game - way too cool - but - where were you my younger brother Jeff? If you think social networks are a waste of time...thing again. It can certainly be for you what you want it to be...for fun, for marketing or for connecting with old friends and family - BEST OF ALL a virtual ONLINE SPORTS PARTY!

The times are changing - well that is an understatement. Technology is and will always be changing and if you are a business minded individual, it pays to be LINKED ONLINE! With Social Networking options on the rise, the front runners are Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and LinkedIn! I want to focus on LinkedIn. LinkedIn can be better explained as the Social Media Networking resume/credential location. This is where business owners, or service providers publicly put there credentials and resume online. Your network can even recommend you publicly as well which will give you the validation need that sells.
